ICH BIN
SOPHIE SCHOLL
The Instagram project @ichbinsophiescholl brings the resistance fighter out of the history books and into the here and now. In this way, users can take part in the last ten months of Sophie Scholl's (1921-1943) life.
Sophie Scholl on Instagram - in real time. We listen to Sophie's words, share her thoughts and feelings and experience her universe, with her crystal-clear gaze. The medium Instagram and a huge treasure of thousands of letters, photos, diaries, art - much of it unpublished - make it possible. Sophie narrates and takes us along: her perspective, her way of seeing the world. In the coming ten months, her life at the university and her resistance in the White Rose will be the subject of discussion. Personal matters such as her love affair with Fritz Hartnagel, an officer stationed in Russia, are also part of the story.
The project, a scenic-documentary cooperation of VICE Media, Sommerhaus Filmproduktion, Unframed, SWR & BR, starts on May 4 2021- the day 21-year-old Sophie Scholl traveled to the Bavarian capital for the start of her studies. On this day in 1942, the daughter from a Protestant home boards the train to Munich to study, meet her brother and new friends. The last clip is scheduled for February 18, the day of her arrest in 1943. Four days later she will be executed.
The Instagram channel @IchbinSophieScholl offers a very vivid insight into the life of the young woman who became a symbol of resistance against the Nazis. I was welcomed to participate in this project as a digital creator and take care of the multimedia social media content: Photographs, Videos, Reels and Boomerangs.
